A little VL update

Hello you lovely lot!

It's been a made few months, hasn't it? I hope you're all safe and well and finding ways to cope with everything life throws at you right now.

I just wanted to pop a little blog post up telling you all what's been going on in the world of Velvet Lemonade.

Firstly, Mr Velvet and myself have been making the most of the Eat Out to Help Out scheme: We've eaten out every Monday - Wednesday for 4 weeks which has been fantastic! We've been on a few lovely days out when the weather held and we've seen embraced seeing friends once again. However, it does mean I've neglected my time a little: I should definitely have spent more time focusing on growing my business and I feel pretty guilty about some of the wasted days (although are they wasted days when I've spent quality time with friends and family? I think not).

Now, when I have been focused and sequestered away in my workspace, I've been coming up with the new Autumn/Winter collection!

This has meant designing a colour palette, sketching out designs, editing those designs down to the final cut, mixing clay testers to get the colour palette perfect, forgetting to write the clay colour recipes down and having to start again, perfecting the colour mixes and making up bigger batches, finalising the shapes I want to feature...the list goes on quite a bit further, but I'll stop now.

Here's a little Behind The Scenes of the collection:

Once again, my love of leopard print is shining through. This time, I've added my favourite autumn colour, mustard, to the mix, and decided on a marbled effect. I'm also a massive fan of transluscent clay and the effects that can be achieved with it, so I've been focused on developing new techniques to create items with a bit of decadence. That first picture of the starry sky blue? That was created by marbling three different shades of translucent clays and adding glitter!

There's absolutely loads more going into this next collection but I don't want to spoil all the surprises for you, so I'm going to leave it there.

Stay safe, guys and gals!

Emma x
